I know some of you are sick of so many Brett Favre pictures in my article, but there's no way you can ignore the Favre and Brad Childress. The Vikings are 2-4 and are on the verge of possibly missing the playoffs. Thank to the Packers injuring Favre's ankle last week, his 291-game starting streak is in jeopardy when they head to Foxboro to visit Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder that his injuries have healed and expects to start on Sunday.

I understand Favre has only seven touchdown passes and 10 interceptions, but I don't see Tavaris Jackson coming in and running the Vikings offense and winning at Gillette Stadium.

I believe he gives the team a better chance to wing but no matter who starts, I think the Patriots will win this game and give the Vikes a bigger hole in the NFC North.

Did anyone forget Randy Moss is making his return to Foxboro to face his former team? We all did thanks to the Favre drama.

Enjoy a good sports weekend and let the debates begin.

"Ron's Week 7 NFL Picks" by Ronald Carthen

Thank goodness NFL Week 7 is coming up because the Yankees have pissed me off in the American League Championship Series against the Texas Rangers.

Tom Brady and the Patriots had a big emotional comeback win last week against the Baltimore Ravens. Now I'm ready to see how well they play at San Diego when they face the Chargers.

The big games of the week will be Brett Favre and the Vikings heading back to Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys looking for their second win when they face the New York Giants.

Here are my picks and let the debates begin.

NFL may start suspending players for hits!!!!!! by Ronald Carthen

NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson said the league will may start suspending players for vicious hits in a game. I think they need to put this rule in place as soon as they possible, as a matter of fact, why not just put it in now. I understand we love to cheer for big hits in a football game, but when a player is hurt and his career could be over, that's when we have to look at each other and realize these players are humans and not superheros or animals.

The vicious hits I saw in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh made it clear that it's time for players to start taking responsibility for intentional hits.

In the second quarter of the Falcons-Eagles game, Desean Jackson and Dunta Robinson had the biggest collision I've seen in the league in a very long time. Have a look for yourself.

Both very good players are very lucky to be walking after Robinson hit Jackson headfirst. If this incident doesn't make you think it's time to suspend players for helmet-to-helmet hits I don't know what will. The Eagles are going to miss Jackson next week when they travel to Nashville to take on the Titans.

In the Browns-Steelers game, James Harrison sidelined Joshua Cribbs and Mohamed Massaquoi with helmet-to-helmet hits and caused them to get concussions. What did Harrison have to say for intentionally knocking them out of the game, just take a look.

"I don't want to injure anybody. There's a big difference between being hurt and being injured. You get hurt, you shake it off and come back the next series or the next game. I try to hurt people."
When asked about his Joshua Cribbs dirty read what he said then watch the video.
"I thought Cribbs was asleep. A hit like that geeks you up, especially when you find out the guy is not really hurt, he's just sleeping. He's knocked out but he's going to be OK."

If the NFL is going to make an example out of someone, they need to make an example out of suspending Harrison for a game. You know and I know that was intentional and was ready to hurt players and take them out of the game at any cost. Then players would appreciate the fact they need to help their team.
My only concern is how officials will view as a vicious hit and suspend someone for unintentionally hitting someone. It's time for the NFL to do something now or careers will be cut short.

"Ron's NFL Week 6 Picks" by Ronald Carthen

I'm not going to lie, this is going to be a tough week for me to pick some of these games. Nobody knows who's going to play due to injuries, everyone in the AFC South is 3-2, and we have the Cowboys and Vikings both at 1-3.

I promise you Brett Favre will play this Sunday even with elbow problems. This is such a big week for both the Vikes and Cowboys and no one can afford to lose this week. The loser of this game is going to get plenty of heat and more pressure to make it to the playoffs.

Check out my Week 6 picks and let the debates begin!!!

"Ron's NFL Week 5 Picks" by Ronald Carthen

What's going on everyone my picks bombed last week but it's okay this is my redemption week and I can't wait to check out the game of the week on Monday night when Brett Favre and the Vikings pay a visit to the New Meadowlands to face the New York Jets.

The Vikings truly needed Randy Moss back on the team so bad, especially when Favre has thrown only two touchdowns and six interceptions. I can't wait to see how the Favre and Moss experiment works for one year and one year only. Moss should be to make the offense better but this week he's going against the Jets defense.

I have a feeling the Jets will attack the Brett Favre and get as many sacks as possible in this game. I'm not sure Moss will get alot of catches if Darrelle Revis comes back from his hamstring injury.

Enjoy your Week 4 and let the debates begin on this great North Carolina A&T State University Homecoming weekend (at least me personally).

Can't Miss These Games!!!!!
Jets over Vikings

"Ron's Week 4 Picks" by Ronald Carthen

"Who dat said the Falcons were going to beat those Saints?" and who said the Cowboys were going to the Texans? That's right I went 12-4 in my Week 3 picks last week and feeling real good all week long. Enough about me let's talk the biggest game of the week.

Donovan McNabb returns to Philadelphia as he and Redskins will pay a visit to Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles. Vick can thank McNabb on Sunday for giving him a second chance in his football career. Last season, McNabb came to the Eagles front office and ask for Vick to join the team. Then Andy Reid and company decided to take a chance and it is paying off so far this season.

After coming on wildcats and short-yardage situations last season, Vick is having fun on the football field and making defenders nervous and slow once again. He is completing 60.7% of his passes for 750 passing yards, six touchdown passes and no interceptions. He's not only the biggest comeback story this season, people are also buzzing about him possibly being an MVP candidate. After 18 months in a federal prison for his part in a dogfighting ring, I enjoy watching his career is back on track.

McNabb was traded to the Redskins during the offseason after leading the Eagles to five NFC Championships, four NFC East titles, and a trip to Super Bowl XXXIX, where they lost to the Patriots 24-21. Now he leads the Redskins into Lincoln Financial Field to meet the nasty and diehard Eagle fans. Ever since his Week 1 win over the Cowboys, things haven't been any better for him and the Redskins. They lost a 17-point lead to the Texans 30-27 in overtime two weeks ago and lost to the St. Louis Rams.

Even though McNabb is throwing 60.8% of his passes for 833 passing yards, only two touchdown passes and an interception, he needs a big game in Philly against the Eagles defense, who allow 20.7 points a game.

Eagles fans if you have a heart please show McNabb some respect when he comes out the tunnel on Sunday. Ever since you were angry you guys picked him over Ricky Williams in the draft back in 1999, he's brought you guys big wins and plenty of excitement in your seats every Sunday. He a real heart and give him a standing ovation.

Now on to my picks and I hope do my thing once again this week. Have a great NFL Sunday everyone.

Can't Miss Games Of The Week!!!!
(2-1) Eagles over (1-2) Redskins
(3-0) Steelers over (2-1) Ravens
(2-1) Dolphins over (2-1) Patriots

Good Games But Not As Great!!!!
(3-0) Bears over (1-2) Giants
(2-1) Titans over (1-2) Broncos

Not Bad Worth Checking Out!!!!
(2-1) Colts over (1-2) Jaguars
(2-1) Falcons over (0-3) 49ers
(2-1) Bengals over (0-3) Browns
(1-2) Raiders over (2-1) Texans
(1-2) Rams over (2-1) Seahawks
(1-2) Chargers over (2-1) Cardinals

(2-1) Jets over (0-3) Bills

"Ron's NFL Week 4 Day After" by Ronald Carthen

I thought the first thing I was going to talk about was how the Cowboys redeem themselves against the Texans, but Michael Vick changed everything in Philadelphia and made a big statement on Sunday.

Vick has been amazing since he step on the football field this season. He completed 17 of 31 of his passes and had four touchdowns (3 pass TD and 1 rushing TD) against the Jaguars and led the Eagles to a 28-3. You had to enjoy watching him throw a 61-yard TD pass to Desean Jackson, a 16-yard and 45-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin, and when he ran in the end zone for a 17-yard touchdown.

Vick has thrown for 750 passing yards, six touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 110.2 QB rating. I'm glad he's doing so well after everything he's been through with the dog trial and not getting much playing time last year.

Michael Vick is back and we all need to get use to it now. The Eagles front office would be insane to let him go after this season.

Falcons stun Saints at the Superdome!!!!

Who Dat say the Falcons would beat those Saints at the Superdome? Me!!!!! It was going to happen sooner or later.

Saints kicker Garrett Hartley has to be sick to his stomach in the past 24 hours after missing a simple 29-yard field goal in overtime that would have given them the win in overtime. This is the same man that sent his team to the Super Bowl after a game-winning 46-yard field goal over the Vikings in the NFC Championship last season. Then Falcons kicker Matt Bryant kicked a 46-yard field goal with 1:55 left in overtime to give Matt Ryan and the Falcons a 27-24 overtime victory. Good job Sean Payton calling a timeout and icing Bryant as the Saints block Bryant's field goal before Bryant's big GW kick.

The Saints have invited John Carney and Matt Stover to practice with the team and possibly replace Hartley, talk about loyalty to your Super Bowl clinching kicker.

Roy Williams explodes against the Texans secondary!!!!

As soon as I read the Texans allowed 811 passing yards in their first two games, I knew I had to pick the Cowboys to win this game. Tony Romo completed 23 for 30 passes for 284 passing yards and two touchdown passes to lead the Cowboys to their first win of the season over the Texans 27-13.

Both of Romo's touchdown passes went to Texas Longhorn alum Roy Williams, who caught five passes for 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Williams caught a 15-yard touchdown pass to give the Cowboys a 17-3 lead in the third quarter and a 63-yard TD pass in the fourth to put the Texans away for good.

The Cowboys running game ran the ball 27 times for 101 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown (from Marion Barber to give the Cowboys a 7-0). Much better then averaging 63.5 rushing yards in the first two weeks of the season.

The Cowboys defense held the Texans to only one touchdown and two field goals. That was very surprising to me. They even held Andre Johnson to only four catches for 64 receiving yards and no touchdowns. Matt Schaub threw for only 241 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.

Braylon Edwards comes up big in Miami!!!!

First of all I'm glad Braylon Edwards finally cut off that ugly beard. It paid off after he sat out of the game briefly for his drunk driving arrest this week.

Edwards only had two catches and 87 receiving yards, but he made the biggest touchdown of the game when Mark Sanchez threw a pass to him, then juked Jason Allen and ran it for a 67-yard touchdown catch. How ironic LeBron James was in the house to witness it.

I've been impressed on how Mark Sanchez has taken control the the Jets offense in the last couple of weeks. Sanchez threw 15 of 28 of his passes for 256 passing yards and three touchdowns at South Beach. In the last couple of week he has thrown 36 for 58 of his passes for 476 passing yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions.

Shame on the Dolphins fans for booing Jason Taylor as well. He put his body on the line for you guys and you treat him that way. Come on that makes no sense, I don't care if the Jets are your rival.

LaDainian Tomlinson looks much better and being more productive with the Jets. Tomlinson finished the game with 15 carries for 70 rushing yards and ran a one-yard touchdown to give the Jets a 31-23 lead and the game.

Brett Favre and the Vikings finally win, but this will have to be Adrian Peterson's team!!!!

Until Brett Favre gets Sidney Rice back, they have to rely on Adrian Peterson to carry their offense.

Adrian Peterson ran 23 carries for 160 rushing yards and two touchdowns to help the Vikings get their first win of the season over the Lions 24-10. Half of his yards came from an 80-yard touchdown run to help the Vikes put them away.

Favre is still looking like a 40-year old man instead of the great Pro Bowl quarterback he was last season. He needs on more touchdown to have 500 touchdown passes of his career, but his performance against the Lions wasn't very good at all. He threw 23 of 34 of his passes for 201 passing yards and a touchdown pass, but threw two interceptions. When Percy Harvin has six catches and Adrian Peterson had the second-most catches with five, something is wrong with Favre's trust with the team.

After their bye week, the Vikings schedule will be brutal. They will visit the Jets, host the Cowboys, visit the Packers, and visit the Patriots in the next four weeks. I don't like their chances on the road at all and I think the Vikes are in trouble.

By the way Percy Harvin's 24-yard touchdown catch was one of the best catches this season. Way to dive in the end zone for the touchdown catch.

Other NFL thoughts
  • Shame on the New York Giants for looking so bad against the Titans. Chris Johnson ran the ball 32 times for 125 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Eli Manning and the Giants better get it together soon or it will be a long season for the "G-Men" and more fun for the New York media.
  • The 49ers had to get rid of offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye after that humiliating lost to the (3-0) Chiefs. Todd Haley is my coach of the year so far but let's see how well they play the next two weeks after their bye week when they visit the Colts and Texans. By the way thier defense has allowed only 12.7 points a game. Please keep an eye on Dexter McCluster the rest of the year.
  • The Patriots defense allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Bills to score 30 points....Unacceptable I don't care if the Patriots won 38-30.
  • Welcome back Leon Washington!!!! a 101-yard and a 99-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns as the Seahawks beat the Chargers 27-20. Can someone fire Norv Turner already, the Chargers are a mess.
  • Very happey for Charlie Batch and the Steelers defense!!!! They will be tough to stop as soon as Ben Roethlisberger comes back, but Big Ben won't play against the Ravens on Sunday.
  • Joe Flacco throws three touchdown passes against the Browns but the Ravens D should have been much better against the Browns.
  • The Bengals offense better get it together they look terrible in their first three games. They have only averaged 19.7 points a game.
  • Donovan McNabb and the Redskins hand Sam Bradford his first career win and let the Rams beat you before the big game in Philly next week...Pathetic.
  • Sebastin Janikowski misses a 32-yard field goal over the Cardinals? Come on son.
Monday Prediction!!!!

Packers will beat the Bears tonight.

"Ron's NFL Week 3 Picks" by Ronald Carthen

This week will be a big for many 2-0 and 0-2 teams in the league, but none will be bigger then the (0-2) Dallas Cowboys paying a visit to Reliant Stadium to take on the (2-0) Houston Texans.

The Cowboys drop to 0-2 for the first time since 2001 and have the most pressure out of any team this week. There's no way "America's Team" can go to Houston and fall to 0-3 this week. Tony Romo must find a way to run his offense much better and motivate his receivers to catch and hold on to the football. I blame his receivers for all three of the Cowboys turnovers against the Chicago Bears last week. Romo and his receivers can redeem themselves this week against the Texans pass defense, that has allowed 822 passing yards and four touchdowns in the first two games of the season.

There running backs have been a disgrace in their first two games of the season. They have averaged on 69.5 rushing yards a game and have ran the ball only 42 times. Last week, they only ran for 36 rushing yards on 20 carries. Now they have to figure out how to run through the Texans rushing defense, who are second in the league allowing only 31 rushing yards a game. If they don't get any better, they have to rely on Romo carry the offense without a running game and that's not good.

The Texans have had an impressive 2-0 start, including a big comeback win over the Washington Redskins last week and a win over the Colts in their home opener the previous week.

Matt Schuab threw 497 passings yards and three touchdowns including a big 34-yard TD pass to Andre Johnson late in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 27, followed by a Neil Rackers 34-yard field goal to defeat the Washington Redskins 30-27 in overtime.

Arian Foster, who leads the league in rushing with 300 rushing yards, should have a difficult time running through the Cowboys rush defense, who allow only 63.5 rushing yards.

Andre Johnson, who has caught the ball 15 times for 191 receiving yards and a touchdown so far this season, should be able to get plenty of touches this Sunday against the Cowboys passing defense that allows 215.5 yards a game.

Who ever's secondary will step up in this contest will win this football game.

I'm also looking forward to see if Jay Cutler and the Bears will carry the momentum from last week when they host the Packers on Monday Night. Let's see how the Jets defense will step up without Darrelle Revis when they head to Miami to take on the Dolphins. Don't forget about the big showdown in New Orleans when Drew Brees and the Saints host Matt Ryan and the Falcons. Personally I'm anxious to see if Brett Favre and the Vikings offense will get it together when they host the Lions. Let's see if Chris Johnson, who ran 16 carries for only 34 rushing yards, will be able to run on the Giants rushing attack, which allows 124.5 rushing yards a game. Take a look at my picks and let the debates begin.

"Ron's NFL Week 2 Picks" by Ronald Carthen

I'm so glad this football season is already off to a great start and it can only get better from this point on. This week will be a big week for both New York football teams as the spotlight will be on them this week. The Giants look to carry their momentum in Indianapolis, while the Jets will see if their offense can get it together this week at home against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. The Patriots vs Jets was going to be my game of the week, but you can't turn down "Manning Bowl II" in front of a national television audience. Peyton won the last time they played against one another in the old Giants Stadium. Eli will look to defeat Peyton but he must find a way to overcome three interceptions he had last week, despite of throwing three touchdown passes. Peyton will only hope his defesnse will show up this week after allowing Arian Foster to run for 231 of the Texans 257 yards and three touchdowns.

The best one-on-one matchup this week will be Randy Moss vs Darrelle Revis as the Patriots will pay a visit to the New Meadowlands for the first time on Sunday. Revis held Moss to only nine catches for 58 receiving yards and a touchdown in two meetings last year but that's the least of their worries. The Jets have to figure out a way to turn their offense around. Mark Sanchez only threw 10 of 21 of his passes for 74 passing yards and Shonn Greene didn't get a carry in the second half after fumbling the ball twice in the first half. Tom Brady will not three touchdown passes as he did against the Bengals last week, but he may do just enough to win as long as the Jets offense doesn't show up for the second week in a row.

I also can't wait to see if Brett Favre and the Vikings will bounce back when they host the Dolphins, if the Ravens can win back-to-back road games in a short week when they head to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals, and see if the Cowboys and their coaching staff can make better decisisons when they host the Chicago Bears. Here are my picks and get ready for another great week in the NFL.

Can't Miss Games of the Week!!!!
Colts over Giants
Patriots over Jets
Vikings over Dolphins
Bengals over Ravens

Good Games but not as Great!!!!!

"Behave yourselves New York Jets and the entire NFL!!!!!!" by Ronald Carthen

I have to commend TV Azteca sports reporter Ines Sainz for how she has handled the situation with the New York Jets. This won't be the first or last time you will hear a story on athletes harassing female reporters, but athletes have to be clear that they have to stay professional when females come in their locker rooms while they are changing clothes.

Sainz is sexy as you can see, but that the things the Jets did was a bit inappropriate. For example, how can Rex Ryan and others throws footballs at her way during practice. That was way too childish and too immature for grown men to conduct themselves that way. I'm surprised she was strong enough to not go off on the organization at the time. She had to also put up with the verbal harassment from Jets players as she was conducting interviews with players. She wore a white dress blouse, nice tight jeans and high heels, but act like you have some sense when you see a woman. There's no excuse of talking about her and making jokes in the locker room. Please let her do her job and keep your comments to yourselves. What happen in the locker room was no different then what happens when men try to get some attention from a woman out in the street everyday. I also realize that these men have to be more responsible for their actions especially at a work environment.

She decided to not press any charges which is a bit surprising considering that many people witnessed it and told her the team's actions was considered sexual harassment. Many reporters would have found a way to sue an NFL franchise for all it's worth, but decided she didn't want to have the whole nation feeling sorry for her. I didn't hear anything about players touching her inappropriatley when she was in the locker room but as males we have to control ourselves.

I'm glad Clinton Portis apologize for his remarks towards her as well. He maybe right about when female reporters come in while men are changing things will happen but that doesn't give them the right to be idiots either. He had to say sorry for his sake of his career and won't lose any money over dumb comments like that.

Let's please be respectful for all women in the workplace especially that it is 2010 and women have more rights then ever before and getting great jobs. Be mindful of your actions when you see a woman passing you by because one or two things will happen. Either they'll be nice to you or they'll be uncomfortable talking to you. You don't want to be in a situation when a woman doesn't want to talk to you especially at work. The Jets won't lose their jobs but a message has been sent for the millionth time. Don't disrespectful while she is doing her job.

"Ron's NFL The Day After: Week 1" by Ronald Carthen

There's nothing like Week 1 of the NFL season, but yesterday was insane. We've seen everything from Tony Romo and Cowboys offense blowing another game to Michael Vick returning to glory, but nobody had a bad day like Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions.

Not only did the Lions lose Matthew Stafford in the second quarter with a shoulder injury, thanks to a Julius Peppers hit, Calvin Johnson was robbed from a game-winning touchdown catch. Lions backup QB Shaun Hill threw a 25-yard TD pass to Johnson that should have put the Lions ahead 21-19, but it was overturned after officials ruled that he didn't maintain possession of the ball after the catch.

I'm so disappointed in the officials for such a bad call. It was clear that Johnson made an amazing one-handed catch but the refs made a bad call and the Lions had the toughest lost they had in the last three years, and yes they were many losses.

Tony Romo and the Cowboys offense are a joke!!!!!

I can't blame Tony Romo for everything that happened yesterday in the Cowboys 13-7 to the Redskins. His coaching staff made bad decisions and Cowboys offensive tackle Alex Barron, who started for tackle Marc Colombo, caused his team the game.

The Cowboys had the nerve to run a play on 1st and 20 at their own 36 yard line with four seconds left in the half. After Romo threw a lateral pass to Tashard Choice, DeAngelo Hall strips the ball from choice, with help from Andre Carter and Lorenzo Alexander, and recovered the fumble for a 32-yard TD return to extend the Redskings lead 10-0 at the half.

Then with the Cowboys down 13-7 with three seconds left, Romo scrambled to throw a 13-yard game-winning TD pass to Roy Williams for the win, but then the officials called Barron for holding Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo and caused the Cowboys a victory.

I know Romo finished 31 for 47 with 282 passing yards and no interceptions, but he didn't do very well being a leader on his team. They can't afford to lose to the Chicago Bears at thier home operner next week I promise you that.

The return of the real Michael Vick?????

Eagles QB Kevin Kolb left the game with a concussion in the second quarter, after Packers linebacker Clay Matthews hit him from behind. That left the door open for Michael Vick to play the rest of the game and man he didn't disappoint.

With the Packers up 20-3 in the third quarter, Vick ran a 31-yard run to the Packers 2, then after a penalty, LeSean McCoy ran it in for a 12-yard TD run to cut the lead 20-10.

Then after Aaron Rodgers threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Greg Jennings to extend the lead 27-10, Vick brought the Eagles back with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin to cut the lead to 10.

Then with the Eagles down 27-20 in less then 2:00 left in the game, Vick had a chance to send it in to overtime. But his celebration was put on hold after the Packers defense stopped him on 4th-and-1 at the Packers 42.

Andy Reid better start Vick the rest of the season I don't care if Kevin Kolb is healthy. Reid says Kolb is still the starter but I hope Vick will play well again when he faces the Detroit Lions at Ford Field this Sunday. Vick finished with 16 of 24 for 175 passing yards and a touchdown pass, including 11 carries for 103 rushing yards.

Arian Foster and the Texans make a statement!!!!!!

Arian Foster, an undrafted rookie out of Tennessee, spent most of last season on the practice squad. Foster had the best running day in the Texans history with a team record 231 rushing yards and three rushing TDs on the Colts as they defeated Peyton Manning and company 34-24. The Texans were 30th in rushing last season.

Foster had the second-best rushing weekend in NFL history. Buffalo's O.J. Simpson had the 250 rushing yards against New England in 1973.

Peyton Manning threw 40-for-57 of his passes for 433 passing yards and three passing TDs, but that wasn't even enough to stop the Texans.

That was Texans second victory over the Colts in 17 tries. This win was huge for the Texans and I think things can be looking up for them very soon.

Tom Brady and the Patriots spoil the "T.Ocho Show"!!!!!

Tom Brady threw two of his three touchdown passes to Wes Welker as they humiliated the Bengals 38-24. Welker played very well after suffering a torn ACL the last week of the regular season last year. He finished the game with 8 catches for 64 receiving yards and two TD catches.

I guess that made Randy Moss so jealous after the game, he decided to discuss his future with the team rather then talk about their big victory. You did only catch five catches for only 59 receiving yards but don't piss off your team saying things like "I know people in New England want me out of here" and "You are not sure if you'll be back next season." You are suppose to make play your butt off and get a big contract not wine and complain. I'm not surprised by his actions at all.

Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens combined for 19 catches for 212 receiving yards and a touchdown catch. Ochocinco had 12 catches for 159 receiving yards and a TD catch, while T.O. only had seven catches for only 53 receiving yards. It's too bad things didn't pick up for the Bengals offense until the second half, but I think things will get better.

Other NFL thoughts

  • Steelers RB Rashard Mendenhall had one of the best finishes of the day with a game-winning 50-yard TD run in OT to defeat the Falcons 15-9. The Steelers defense held the Falcons to only three field goals. As long as Troy Polamalu is healthy, the Steelers will be in the playoffs I promise you.
  • The Panthers and Giants combined for nine turnovers and both Matt Moore and Eli Manning each threw for three interceptions. All of Eli's three TD passes went to Hakeem Nicks, who I think will have a good year for all of you fantasy football players.
  • Chris Johnson ran 27 times for 142 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the Raiders. I believe the Titans will make the playoffs this year.
  • Pete Carroll's Seahawks coaching debut was far better then I expected. Come on 49ers how are you going to be an NFC West favorite and get your but kicked like that?
  • Tim Tebow only ran the ball twice for two yards? You could have done better Josh McDaniels. David Garrard had three touchdown passes but too bad nobody cares.
  • Karlos Dansby and the Dolphins D held the Bills to only 166 yards of total offense. If they'll be this good all season watch out.
  • Larry Fitzgerald might have caught the go-ahead 21-yard touchdown catch to give the Cardinals the victory over the Rams, but a 17-13 victory didn't give Cardinal fans any hope for this season.
  • Eric Mangini and the Browns lose to the Bucs???? Come on son!!!!!!

"Ron's NFL Week 1 Picks" by Ronald Carthen

Week 1 of the football season is exactly what we all need from all the drama called the real world. It's too bad summer is about over, but the NFL always cheers me up. I can't wait until Drew Brees and the Saints kick things off at home against Brett Favre and the Vikings. Let's see how hungry the Saints are to repeat and let's see if Favre has one good season left in him. I'm looking forward to seeing the Ravens pay a visit to "Revis Island" as they take on the Jets on Monday Night. Other great games to watch will be Peyton Manning and the Colts visiting the Texans, Tony Romo and the Cowboys vs Donovan McNabb and the Redskins, and the "T.Ocho Show" will pay a visit to Tom Brady and the Patriots.
