There are not enough words to describe how disappointed I am with Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington. Ron was tested positive for cocaine last July following the All-Star break. It's bad enough that we have baseball players tested positive for steriods and other performance-enhancing drugs, now we have managers testing positive for drugs.
What were you thinking man seriously? Managers and coaches in any professional sport have to set an example for players and fans around the world. What kind of message are you sending your players when you do something this stupid. You might call it a "mistake," but I call it a black eye to your Major League Baseball resume.
In case you don't remember, you have an all-star player by the name of Josh Hamilton. Josh was tested positive for cocaine and other drug use on numerous occasions and it almost cost him his career. He was suspended for the 2004 season after failing a drug test and thankfully he's a better man now then he was a few years ago.
You are already on the hot seat and very lucky that Rangers president Nolan Ryan had picked up your option last season. Now all eyes will be on you on and off the field. There are only a handful of African-Americans in this league in the first place and this just send the wrong message on how Blacks represent the game.
You have no choice but to wake up now. The season is a few weeks away and Ranger fans are ready for someone to make a playoff push. This team hasn't seen the playoffs since manager Johnny Oates took them to the postseason in 1999, when they were swept by the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series, and they haven't had a playoff win since 1996, when they beat the Yankees in Game 1 of the ALDS.
You better get ready Ron because this season is now or never for you to win the American League West. With the Angels and the Mariners stacking up to have a good season, I think this will be it for him. Man what a bad way to go!!!!!!!
