Ron's 2009-10 NBA AWARDS...by Ronald Carthen

Another great NBA season has come down to a close and I can't wait until the NBA Playoffs begin on Saturday. It's time to unveil my awards for the 2009-10 season. We already know who will be the MVP (the picture above). Let's take a look and see who else I choose for other NBA awards this year.

MVP: LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers
- Finished second behind Kevin Durant in scoring with 29.7 points per game and averaged 7.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists. He lead the Cavaliers to home-court advantage throughout the playoffs and led the only team to finish with 60 wins or more (61-21).

Defensive Player of the Year: Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic
- Led the league averaging 13.2 rpg and 2.7 blocks per game. I can see him winning this award in the next three years.

Coach of the Year: Scott Brooks, Oklahoma City Thunder
- What a 27-game improvement from this Thunder squad. From 23-59 last season to 50-32 this season, can't wait to see coach Brooks prepare Durant and team against the Lakers.

Sixth Man of the Year: Jamal Crawford, Atlanta Hawks
- You can always count on this man to make some big buckets. He averaged 18.0 ppg off the bench and expect him to be an x-factor for the Hawks in the playoffs.

Most Improved Player of the Year: Andrew Bogut, Milwaukee Bucks
- Averaged 15.9 points, 10.5 rebounds, and finished second in the league with 2.5 blocks. It's too bad he won't play in the playoffs with a dislocated elbow, broken hand, and sprained wrist.

Rookie of the Year: Tyreke Evans, Sacramento Kings
- He became only the fourth rookie to average over 20 points, five rebound, and five assists in a season. Three other rookies to accomplish that Michael Jordan, Oscar Roberston, and LeBron James.
